Frequently Asked Questions

Does buccal massage hurt?

It shouldn’t. It’s usually relaxing—some clients even sleep. If you have tension, it may be uncomfortable, but I’ll adjust pressure for your comfort.

How long do the results last?

Results vary depending on age and the amount of tension in the face. Although every client doesn't have a dramatic before and after, each client will see and feel a noticeable change. More dramatic changes are noticed when a client has a lot of stagnant lymphatic fluid, or a very tight TMJ. Visible results last 1-3 days. Clients have reported improvement in TMJ discomfort lasting for weeks. Results vary and you may require a series of treatments depending on your needs.

How often should I get a massage?

The frequency of your massage sessions will depend on your individual needs and preferences. Some clients come in weekly, while others come in every 4-6 weeks or as needed. If you are in need of this for helping to relieve tension in TMJ, as recomended by a dentist, this will require atleast three treatments and should be done more frequently in the beginning.

Is this also a facial?

This is not a facial. This is a face massage. We do not exfoliate, extract, or diagnose skin conditions. We remove makeup, etc. to start with a clean face but this treatment is intended to move the tissue in the face, and to help drain stagnant lymphatic fluid. I use only professional, moisturizing face oils and creams that are safe for all skin types. Please inform your therapist of any allergies or sensitivity to any common ingredients. We use hands as well as different face tools, including gua sha to give you a very unique and relaxing experience.

Is there any downtime?

Absolutely not! Leave here ready to go. You will look good to go about your day glowing, or ready for makeup and a night out. It's a good prep for a special event. Avoid any acids and retinol for 3 days following your face massage, and stay hydrated. If you have recently had, or are planning any peels, laser, or micro-needling, you will need a minimum of a week to heal before your face massage.

Is massage safe during pregnancy?

Yes, it is! We offer prenatal massage and also face massage for expecting mothers to help relieve stress and discomfort during pregnancy. The EMS device is contraindicated during pregnancy but we can modify the massage to suit your needs. Our massage beds are fully adjustable and reclining, to make your experience the most comfortable and relaxing.
